“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” – Exodus 14:14
When God invites us into His plans, He calls us to trust Him and take that first step of faith. Imagine the scene in Exodus: the Israelites stood before the Red Sea, the winds raging, walls of water towering on either side. Behind them, the Egyptian army closed in, threatening their lives. It must have been terrifying.
We read this story knowing how it ends. We know God delivered them safely. But they didn’t have the benefit of hindsight. Each step they took across the sea required incredible faith. What if the waters collapsed? What if the Egyptians caught them? What if their rescue wasn’t secure? The “what ifs” loomed large, but none of them came to pass.
So often in life, we stand at the edge of our own “Red Seas.” God opens doors before us, but fear whispers doubts: What if I fail? What if I’m not strong enough? What if I’m not hearing God correctly? But just as He held back the waters for the Israelites, God’s power is enough to hold back whatever threatens to overwhelm us.
Don’t let fear of the unknown keep you from stepping forward. Trust that if God is calling you to walk through a door, He will go before you. His strength is enough. His arms, which held back the Red Sea, are strong enough to hold back any obstacle in your life.
Each step you take in faith builds a firm foundation—a foundation that cannot be shaken. Trust Him, be bold, and walk forward, knowing you are surrounded by His presence. Just as He sent an army of angels to encamp around His people, He surrounds you today.
Take that step. Build your life on His promises, and let God handle the rest.
Reflection Questions:
1. What “what ifs” are holding you back from stepping into God’s plans?
2. How can you remind yourself of God’s strength and faithfulness in moments of doubt?
3. Are there specific steps of faith you feel God is calling you to take today?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your strength and faithfulness. Help me to trust You completely and step out in faith, even when I don’t see the full picture. Remind me that Your power is enough to overcome every obstacle. Surround me with Your presence, and let my life be built on a foundation of trust in You. Amen.
