Trusting God Through Doubts and Trials

It can be hard and confusing living in the world as a Christian. There is so much around us that can lead us astray and tempt us into living in ways that do not honor God. Especially when the enemy is after our souls, seeking to separate us from God. He wages war on us, causing doubt and confusion in any way he can. He can even lead us astray, but we must remember who we are and whose we are. We are sons and daughters of the living God.

There is no doubt in the world that can separate us from our loving Father, no matter what the enemy whispers in our ears. It’s okay to have doubts, as long as you process them in a healthy way. We can test our thoughts and actions against what we read in the Bible and speak to trusted friends and mentors. It's when the enemy wants to isolate us and use shame against us in our doubts that he starts to win the war within.

But the Lord knows all our doubts. He knows our testings, afflictions, fears, and confusion. There is no hiding it from God. He can help us in turbulent times, because if we follow God, those times will always come. Don’t let them derail you. In time, it becomes easier to draw close to God as you walk with Him and are in relationship with Him. It’s much like when little children in their adolescent years don't want to turn to their parents for anything. They trust their peers for advice, but as we get older and mature into adults, we realize wisdom comes with age. We begin to seek the counsel of our parents even more, respecting their opinions. If you haven’t had this earthly relationship with a father figure, it can be hard to trust, but God is our loving Father. He is here for us in all circumstances. We must draw closer to Him, and He will draw close to us.

Even when we’ve done wrong and made poor choices, He understands our sin nature and has made full provision for that, giving us a way to come to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. He loves us and sent His Son to die for us on the cross for our sins, so we could be reconciled with Him. He knows our hearts inside and out—He knows our strengths, and He knows our weaknesses. Turn to the only one who cares for you with an unfailing eternal love that cannot be broken and will last forever. Nothing can separate us from God. Believe in His goodness and turn back to Him today.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. In times of doubt and confusion, help me to remember who I am in You and whose I am. I pray for strength to resist the lies of the enemy and to draw near to You, knowing that You are always with me. Forgive me for my sins, and help me to walk in Your wisdom and truth. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to reconcile me to You. I trust in Your goodness and Your everlasting love. In Jesus’ name, amen.

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
—Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
