When the Bible states that God answers prayer, it does not mean that He will always say yes or give us our heart’s desires. What He will bless us with is wisdom and knowledge to help us understand a situation, to let us know that He is right there in the midst of things, or He will give us the advice we need to change our ways. He answers all prayers with wisdom, not necessarily with a “yes.” We do not answer to a “yes” God; we answer to a good God, a good Father.
A good Father is not someone who gives a child everything their heart desires. A good Father is someone who wants the best for their child. So when God says no, not yet, or maybe, the answer always comes with God’s best intentions and our best interests at heart. What we pray for may, at the time, feel like all we want in the whole world, but trust that the Lord knows better. He is infinitely wiser and all-knowing. We can trust His judgment in all things.
Thank the Father when He says no. Because if the answer is “no” it is not because He is cruel or wants us to suffer or continue in a way that seems unmanageable to us, but because He cares. It is because He wants the best for us. So when the answer is no, instead of feeling discouraged, remember that if one door is closed, another greater one—one that we don't know about yet—is opening. Don’t wait to see that door open. Take the opportunity and praise God through faith today.
Sometimes the answer is not now because He doesn’t want us to stumble or fail. He needs us to grow before we can receive the answer to our prayer. We need to be in a strong and able position to receive our prayer request. Thank God in faith that He is strengthening us. Pray in faith today for God's answered prayers, even if they are not what we wanted or expected to hear.
Praise God and thank Him through faith that His answers will always reveal His glory and are always answered with our best interests at heart because He is a good, good Father.
Prayer:
Father God, I thank You for always answering our prayers, even when the answers are not what we expect. I trust that Your wisdom, timing, and plans are far greater than mine. Help me to grow in faith, to see Your hand in every situation, and to trust that You always have my best interests at heart. Thank You for being a good, good Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Verse:
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." – Jeremiah 29:11
