Wake up! Jesus is Coming Soon.

How long will you sleep? How long will you slumber? Solomon talks about the sluggard in Proverbs 6:9. He warns against laziness, and as Christians, we cannot afford to be lazy. It is the world that sleeps at this time, but we as Christians are called to be awake. (See the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 for further study.) The biggest event in the history of the world is just around the corner, and we Christians need to be on guard, ensuring we are doing our Christian duties right up until the return of Jesus.

We need to be working hard to ensure that we are trying to win souls for Jesus, not only with our conduct but also with our light shining in the darkness in any way we know how. But we must not forget the Great Commission Jesus left His apostles with when He was first here on earth. It was His charge to all Christians (Matthew 28:19-20). It is our job as disciples—young or old—to bring people to Christ. We cannot afford to be lazy. Jesus is coming soon.

How we fulfill the Great Commission in our lives will look different for each person, but we all know where we can put more effort into bringing souls to Jesus. Now is the time; it’s more important than ever. You don’t need to have an international ministry that is famous around the world to do this, but you do need a heart for the lost, wanting to see them saved from the destruction they face if they go to the grave without accepting Jesus as their Savior.

What are some of the ways we can work this out in our lives?

There are many ways we can lead others to Christ. One way is by our conduct—the way we present ourselves. Not necessarily by aesthetic appearances (although we need to be mindful that we are representatives of Christ and the world does judge by outward appearances), but by our conduct. The light of Jesus is shining within us, and people may wonder what that is. Our light is infectious and contagious, and God designed it to be that way. He is our love, so how could His Holy Spirit be anything other than that? We need to ensure that we are walking in step with Him in order to walk out our calling and help others do the same.

Pray. Ask God to reveal those in your life that you can help. Who can you pray for? We must remember that it is not us who wins a soul, but it is God working through His Holy Spirit within that person’s heart that allows them to know Jesus.

So, we ask the Father, “Who can we speak to? Who should we pray for?” The last thing we do is take action. We take actionable steps to spread the word. There are many ways to be evangelical today. We live in a time of social media, and reaching people is easier than ever. We can send an email and reach someone on the other side of the world in seconds, or send text messages and make video calls. We can use our social media platforms to show the world that Jesus is King. We don’t know who will view our content, and it could save someone’s life. We pray to God, asking Him to guide us and ensure that the words we speak are glorifying to Him.

We must let go of fear and doubt because they will surely come to keep us silent in these troubled times. The enemy doesn’t want us to spread the good news of our Savior because he knows his time is running out, and our Savior is coming soon. We want to make sure we are ready.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of salvation and the opportunity to share Your love with the world. Lord, we ask that You give us the courage and the wisdom to fulfill the Great Commission that You entrusted to us. Help us to be a light in the darkness, shining Your love and truth in all that we do. Guide us in our efforts to reach the lost, whether through our actions, words, or social media platforms. Remove any fear or doubt that would hold us back from proclaiming Your truth. May our lives be a reflection of Your love and grace, and may we always seek to bring others closer to You.

We pray for boldness, strength, and clarity as we work to bring souls into Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
– Matthew 28:19-20
